The Ultimate Copilot Review: A Comprehensive Look at Money Management
Written on
Introduction to Copilot
In my initial assessment, I referred to Copilot as the premier budgeting application, but it has proven to be much more than that; it is truly an exceptional finance app. Copilot is tailored exclusively for iPhone users. After taking a break from it, I revisited the app recently, motivated by my New Year’s resolutions. This return reminded me of why I was initially drawn to it, as well as the reasons I drifted away.
The Positive Aspects
There is a wealth of positive feedback to share. The app's interface is stunning—a feature that might seem trivial, yet it significantly enhances user experience. Beyond aesthetics, the app’s functionality is outstanding.
One of the standout features is the dashboard. Here, users can monitor recent transactions, manage budgets, view upcoming bills, and track monthly income. Keeping up with recent transactions helps me stay informed about my spending habits and ensures there are no unauthorized charges.
The budgeting tools are exceptional; once set up, they efficiently categorize transactions. If any transactions are misclassified, the dashboard allows for quick adjustments, ensuring that you always stay on top of your finances.
In an age where subscription services abound, it’s often difficult to gauge the cumulative monthly expenses. Copilot simplifies this by allowing users to track recurring subscriptions and even add custom recurring expenses like rent or car payments.
The impressive design extends to Copilot's widgets, which provide quick snapshots of budgets, net worth, expenditures, and more. The thoughtful attention to detail and ongoing feature development is promising for the future of the app.
Moreover, Copilot excels in investment tracking and offers the best integration with the Apple Card compared to any other finance app I've tried. While Apple can be restrictive regarding third-party integrations, Copilot makes it straightforward to enter transactions or export from the wallet app.
What Needs Improvement
There are several features I hope will be added as the app evolves. Firstly, the option to share a budget with another individual would be invaluable. It would be wonderful to collaborate with my wife on our budget and monitor our financial status together.
Another enhancement would be the ability to access my finances on devices other than my phone. While this isn’t a major issue, being able to analyze my finances on a desktop would streamline the process of tracking transactions more efficiently. This functionality could also broaden the app's appeal beyond just iOS users.
My primary reason for stepping away from Copilot previously was related to the Apple Card integration. I would appreciate improved connectivity with the app. I’ve found that entering transactions daily works best for me to consolidate my financial activities. While this method may not suit everyone, the advantages I've experienced with Copilot make it worthwhile.
Final Thoughts
I want to address the cost associated with Copilot. The app operates on a subscription model, costing $9 per month or $70 annually. While this pricing might seem steep compared to other finance apps, I appreciate that my subscription supports the app’s development. Updates come more frequently than with other services I've used, and I prefer that they generate revenue from subscriptions rather than selling my data to third parties.
Re-engaging with Copilot is invigorating. One of my primary objectives this year—especially with the arrival of our first child—is to enhance my financial management skills. Thus far, I’ve appreciated the transparency in my spending habits and the formation of beneficial financial practices for my family. While Copilot may not be ideal for everyone—given its current limitation to iOS and the subpar Apple Card integration—it stands out as the best option for money management available today. I look forward to seeing how it assists me in the upcoming year.
