Chapter 1: A New Approach to Work

It's not in my nature to advocate for selfishness; however, after dedicating years to helping others achieve their financial goals, I've come to the realization that it's time to focus on my own ambitions. While I still require clients to generate income, my true desire is to cultivate my own brand and blog, aiming for a future where the majority of my earnings stem from my own efforts.

To achieve this, I intend to prioritize my health and my personal projects. Diving straight into client tasks each day often leads to my own objectives being overshadowed by unforeseen interruptions. Although I recognize the necessity of completing client work, carving out even just 30 minutes each morning to focus on writing for Medium or my blog will allow me to build something meaningful.

Neglecting your own needs can lead to burnout. I've learned this lesson the hard way: despite pouring my energy into someone else's success, layoffs can still leave you with empty pockets. While some sectors may weather economic storms better than others, no one is completely insulated from financial crises. The risk of losing clients or employment is ever-present, particularly when you invest everything into a single employer, only to receive a sudden termination notice. Therefore, cultivating multiple income streams is crucial.

When one source of income diminishes, having other avenues can provide continued financial support. By committing to my own projects and establishing these diverse income channels, I will create a more secure financial future than if I solely relied on one source. This is the path I need to embrace—it's time to practice what I preach.

So, starting today, I'm prioritizing my own aspirations alongside my work for Medium. My hope is not only to meet my goals for March but also to set the stage for what will evolve into a thriving business!
