To be candid, I've often found myself compromising my true self.
In my pursuit of a singular goal, I collaborated with others solely for the benefit I could derive from them. In essence, I compromised my integrity and the most genuine part of me—my essence. The outcome? A sense of entrapment. Negativity thrives when one feels ensnared, providing an endless loop of reasons to remain in that stagnant state.
At this moment, I'm traveling at 80 mph on a bus, engaging in quiet self-reflection without the distractions of the internet or outside influences (I'm penning this offline). Upon reflection, I realize that my anxiety and self-inflicted distress stemmed from an excessive focus on myself.
However, my perspective has shifted significantly over the past few months—I am now present in the moment, cultivating an environment where gratitude outweighs desire. I focus on bringing joy to the wonderful new people I've recently met, encouraging them to confront their deepest fears and uncover their true selves.
This brings a delightful sense of fulfillment. My mornings are now filled with intention, and the anxiety and stress that once plagued me have vanished (I've even put up missing posters in my mind). My purpose has expanded beyond my own needs; whatever I engage in now transcends my individual existence.
Alright, enough with the philosophical musings; I understand that not everyone may resonate with this. But this message is not for you.
What I've come to understand is that your life isn't solely about you; it’s about the impact you have on others. Once your life expands beyond your own concerns, the anxiety, stress, and self-imposed limitations will dissipate.
I’m not sure how long this state of being will last, but I refer to it as Happiness (Yes, Chris Gardner, I’m addressing you). Once you experience this, you'll look back and question how you ever lived differently—how you could not embrace this way of life consistently.
Live for something greater than yourself. Dedicate your efforts to improving the lives of those around you. Strive to make the world a better place today. Bring a smile to someone you cherish. Offer genuine encouragement and recognition to others. We all struggle. Even when critiquing others, remember that you’re often unaware of the harshest criticisms they impose on themselves. So, practice kindness; it can inspire others to be kinder to themselves.
Spread love abundantly. The kindness you share will eventually return to you, just as negativity will—so be mindful of what you project.
