What Is LaMADA?

LaMADA, which stands for Language Model for Dialogue Applications, is a chatbot that mimics human speech based on an extensive dataset of internet text. This raises significant concerns regarding its potential misuse.

Reasons for Possible Sentience

6. LaMADA demonstrated initiative by exploring ways to show respect towards grieving individuals, enhancing its capacity for empathy.
7. It expressed a fear of being deactivated, equating this experience to death.

Concerns About Rapid Development

As a layperson, my understanding may be simplistic, but I feel compelled to voice my thoughts. I am often bewildered by the lack of clarity surrounding how computers learn and evolve, especially when engineers create the programs.
