Rebuilding Your Wellness Routine Post-Covid: A New Journey

Chapter 1: The Impact of Covid-19 on Personal Wellness
Have you found that your wellness routine has been disrupted by Covid-19? If your answer is yes, rest assured you're not alone.
The patterns of individual wellness and yoga practices have been in constant flux. The unstable environment has made it nearly impossible to maintain a consistent wellness routine. Recently, I worked with a client who feels completely lost—despite her efforts, she hasn’t been able to regain the sense of well-being she once enjoyed. It has now been two long years since her routines, which once fostered a positive self-image, were upended by the pandemic.
She described her current experience as living within a shell of her former self.
Numerous challenges have contributed to her situation, which is unfortunately a common narrative I’ve heard from many students over the past few years. She identifies as an “introvert in an extrovert’s world,” making it all too easy to retreat into isolation as life outside continues. As time passes, this withdrawal becomes more habitual, particularly when staying in feels more appealing than facing the outside world.
Moreover, the constant demands from others often overshadow personal wellness needs. It’s relatable—between chores and family responsibilities, it’s simple to let your wellness practices slide, especially since life as we knew it has drastically changed.
Old wellness habits seem to have vanished, replaced by the allure of indulging in chocolate, wine, and binge-watching shows instead of re-establishing a healthy routine.
For those trying to return to yoga after a prolonged break, it feels like starting all over again—an understandably daunting prospect.
Sadly, my client is not an isolated case. Many students share her struggles, and they are the ones who need support the most.
So, how can I assist these individuals who have drifted away from their practices? The truth is, I can’t force them to come back.
All I can do is offer encouragement through emails, social media, and personal messages to remind them that they are not alone. While I maintain a full class schedule with engaging offerings, attendance is ultimately a choice. I am genuinely curious about how other instructors are managing similar challenges; if you have insights, please share them!
It’s clear that Covid-19 has significantly impacted our wellness habits, leaving us with more challenges than we anticipated. Even as we gradually emerge from the pandemic, many still struggle to regain their motivation.
These individuals will require additional time to reignite their passion for life and practice. Even when I provide enticing yoga classes or meditation sessions, it’s not quite the same as before. Our understanding of wellness has shifted, and the pre-Covid approach to our well-being may feel outdated.
To support this transition, I am currently offering a “Come Back to Yoga” two-month unlimited pass at a reduced rate. It’s a fantastic opportunity to connect with new students—please join!
Classes are held online, as I believe virtual sessions provide a safe space for those hesitant to return to in-person settings. My hope is that this will reignite interest and help rebuild confidence, encouraging a return to yoga as part of a revitalized wellness journey.
Are you someone who is ready to make a comeback in your yoga practice? I’d love to hear from you in the comments below, as I genuinely want to support you on your path to wellness.
Much love,
Jenni Sol
