The Myth of an Almighty God: Beliefs and Contradictions Explored

Chapter 1: The Illogical Beliefs
How can one accept the concept of an intelligent designer yet dismiss its existence, while simultaneously believing in the healing properties of rocks? This paradox begs for clarification.
Before diving into the rationale behind the belief in a higher power, let’s briefly examine some commonly accepted spiritual and religious practices. It seems contradictory to embrace magic or spirituality while rejecting the notion of an intelligent creator.
After outlining these unusual practices, I will clarify the logical reasoning behind faith in a designer. Unfortunately, many will skim through this article, having been conditioned to avoid seeking rational explanations about our origins.
Chakra Healing: A Case Study
Chakra healing involves utilizing crystals and stones to harmonize one’s energy centers, known as chakras, through methods such as meditation, yoga, and Reiki.
Despite the lack of scientific backing for these stones beyond their placebo effect, they parallel the belief in a deity. I find solace in the teachings of Jesus Christ, a historical figure, while others may rely on an amethyst for healing. What exactly does that stone offer? Spiritual enlightenment? Prosperity? It's uncertain.
Astrology: The New Age of Compatibility
A surprising number of younger individuals believe that astrological signs can dictate the success of romantic relationships. The month of your birth supposedly defines your character. This notion diminishes individuality, as there are only twelve zodiac signs. As a Sagittarius, I wonder if my assumptions about this trend are misguided.
Interestingly, one can easily search online for the positive or negative traits associated with each sign and apply them to their own emotional experiences.
Spiritual Atheism: A Contradiction
Let’s laugh together for a moment. The belief that one can engage in tarot readings or communicate with spirits is baffling.
Many who identify as spiritual do not subscribe to the Christian faith; instead, they often adhere to evolutionary beliefs. This perspective is equally perplexing, as some even claim that we have evolved towards spirituality.
The Ten Issues with the Christian Gospel
The desire to be one’s own god is prevalent. The notion of an omnipotent deity governing our lives is unwelcome to many. Even as a believer, we instinctively resist this concept.
Does Religion Cause Wars?
The comedian George Carlin famously stated that more people have died in the name of God than for any other reason. However, historical records indicate that only 7% of the 1,763 wars documented up until 2004 were religiously motivated. In reality, 93% were secular conflicts, such as the World Wars and the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
Does Suffering Indicate God's Nonexistence?
Imagine flying in a state-of-the-art airplane and marveling at its craftsmanship, only for it to suddenly plummet, injuring or killing passengers. Would you conclude that the plane lacked a creator? Naturally not. The logical deduction would be that something malfunctioned. For believers, human suffering is a consequence of living in a flawed world, as described in the Bible.
Is There Evidence for God?
Every structure stands as proof of a builder. Even without documentation, it is clear that a creator must exist, as it is impossible for a building to construct itself. Creation itself serves as evidence of a creator. Those who deny the existence of God often default to the idea that nothing produced everything—a scientifically unfounded claim.
Are Churches Full of Hypocrites?
This is true; many are not genuine believers. The Bible often references false converts coexisting with true followers, assuring us that God will distinguish between them on judgment day. Why allow the insincere to deter you from seeking heaven?
Is Faith a Sign of Weakness?
We exhibit faith in numerous aspects of life—trusting pilots, doctors, and traffic lights. When the Bible speaks of faith in God, it refers to a trust rooted in his integrity and the promise of eternal life, not blind belief in his existence.
Would a Benevolent God Create Hell?
Should a just God not punish a mass murderer? If He is good, He must ensure justice prevails. Hell serves as a consequence for those who commit evil acts.
Will God Condemn Me for My Nonbelief?
Beliefs shape our actions. If you believe a danger exists, you will act accordingly. Ignoring Biblical warnings about sin leads to facing divine judgment.
Is There Proof of Jesus’ Existence?
Historical documentation of Jesus’ life can be found in the accounts of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, as well as references by historians like Josephus and Tacitus. Over two dozen credible sources affirm Jesus was indeed a historical figure.
Are Atrocities Present in the Bible?
The Bible does not shy away from depicting humanity's wickedness. It serves as a warning that divine judgment is inevitable.
Am I Content Without God?
This may be the underlying reason for your resistance to faith. The reluctance to accept Jesus often stems from a desire to continue indulging in worldly pleasures.
The Cost of Sin
The Bible refers to death as “wages.” A fair judge would condemn a murderer to death, as it is what they deserve. Reflect on your life: how many lies have you told? Have you ever stolen or misused God’s name? According to Jesus, even lustful thoughts equate to adultery in the heart.
God perceives you as a deceitful thief, and the Bible warns of hell awaiting those who reject His mercy. Yet, God desires no one to perish. Humanity has violated divine law, but Jesus paid the penalty through His death on the cross. He rose from the dead, witnessed by many—a truth far from a fairy tale.
Today, consider repentance and trust in Jesus, and you will receive divine forgiveness.
