Finding Freedom in the Rhythm: A Journey Through Poetry

Chapter 1: The Weight of Stagnation
It can be incredibly frustrating to feel trapped in a cycle of monotony. The obstacles that hinder my ability to achieve greater successes often stem from the stressors and struggles I face daily. The small victories I experience serve as a mere seasoning, preventing me from confronting the deeper realities of life—just a series of small disappointments that don’t truly satisfy.
In this constant race against myself, I find distraction in activities like crossword puzzles, which keep my mind occupied but don’t lead to meaningful progress. Video games, too, offer an endless escape, consuming just enough energy to prevent me from engaging with my own aspirations. My attention is often drawn to the sounds that fill my surroundings—songs that I’ve heard countless times, cleverly keeping me from expressing my own thoughts. These familiar tunes act as barriers, hindering my path to enlightenment.
As I navigate my daily routine, I often find solace in rituals that, while comforting, contribute to my inertia. My most frequent interaction is with the snooze button, which I rely on more than I do on myself. The refreshing rush of the shower mimics the touch of a masseuse, but it merely prepares me to float through the day without truly addressing my stagnation. Despite the words I’ve spoken, I often feel I have little to say, opting instead to sink into the comfort of my lounge chair, surrounded by the constant hum of the television and music.
In this state, I grapple with the notion that nothing truly matters. I might as well accept a life dictated by the prescriptions I refuse to acknowledge. I often find myself screaming—not out of anger, but to break free from the numbness that pervades my existence. Alone in my car or in my chair, I experience varying degrees of disengagement, keeping my mind from expanding.
If only I could learn to breathe beneath the overwhelming depths I find myself in, perhaps I would uncover my own unique song, waiting to be sung. Yet, I continue to tread water, filled with trepidation about the future and how to respond when asked about my aspirations. Too often, I see only my own insecurities and feelings of inadequacy reflected back at me. Despite this, I keep pushing forward, recognizing the wisdom in self-help advice, even when it acknowledges our fears.
We fear not failure, but the immense potential we hold within. Ice Cube’s words resonate with me: "Check yourself before you wreck yourself." For so long, my self has been checked that I feel linked to defeats I’ve never actually faced. However, the cards we are dealt shape our journey, and I encourage you to express what your heart consistently whispers. That rhythmic beating is a reminder to keep moving forward, but I must also remember to dance!
As I strive to break free from the confines of my own frustration, I seek to learn the love that comes from soaring above my challenges.

Chapter 2: Embracing the Power of Choice
In a world filled with choices, the ability to act on them is often what separates those who thrive from those who merely survive. This concept is poignantly addressed in the second video titled "The Choice We All Have, But Only a Few Apply It" featuring Jordan Peterson.
Peterson's talk emphasizes the importance of taking responsibility for our choices and the transformative power this responsibility can hold in our lives.
