Embracing Abundance: Transforming Your Mindset from Lack

Chapter 1: The Challenge of Abundance
Have you found it as difficult as I have to shift your mindset?
Often, my thoughts get trapped in a cycle of what I lack, what I need, and how to acquire it. It’s no wonder I’ve felt stressed for quite some time. However, if we consider the idea that consciousness—our thoughts and emotions—shapes our reality, then fostering a mindset of abundance could lead to transformative changes in our circumstances. This perspective is supported by some theories in quantum physics.
The struggle lies in the fact that many of us, myself included, are still entrenched in the classical view of Newtonian physics, which prioritizes matter over consciousness. This belief has been ingrained for generations, likely even predating Newton himself. Our tangible reality is so overwhelming that it becomes hard to accept that it may simply reflect the focus of our minds and emotions.
This established mindset has hindered my ability to transition from a fixation on lack to a grateful recognition of the abundant possibilities that exist, albeit unmanifested due to my limited belief in them.
Will a Job Solve My Sense of Lack?
Recently, I've become so preoccupied with my perceived deficiencies that I've convinced myself that returning to the workforce is essential for my financial stability. This new role entails a two-hour roundtrip commute and physically demanding shifts three days a week, all for a paycheck that comes in cash since cannabis remains federally illegal.
Although this job represents a stark contrast to my previous remote work lifestyle, I believed that engaging in an industry I support—medical cannabis—would bring joy and personal growth. However, after just two weeks of laboring for my earnings, I’ve realized that my initial curiosity has been satisfied, and it might be time to move on.
To Stay or Not to Stay?
Now, I face a dilemma: Should I leave this job now or wait for a better opportunity, fearing a disruption in cash flow if I resign? In the meantime, how can I dismantle my entrenched beliefs centered on lack and rewire my brain to naturally gravitate towards thoughts of abundance? Clearly, I have some inner work ahead of me during this transitional phase.
The four key practices that are assisting me in this transformation include:
- Regularly reciting affirmations centered on abundance (e.g., "I am a wave in the ocean of infinite supply").
- Throughout the day, actively acknowledging the abundance and positive aspects in my life, expressing gratitude, and truly feeling it.
- Reminding myself that the material world reflects my beliefs back to me, and I hold the power to change those beliefs to manifest the circumstances I desire.
- Staying calm and composed when challenges arise from my previous lack-based mindset, reminding myself that “this too shall pass.”
Last night, as I engaged in affirmations before sleep and during my morning meditation, I found I could navigate a recent financial difficulty with a level of composure that would have previously sent me into a panic. For now, I will remain in my job, striving to reframe challenging experiences positively and continuing my journey from a mindset of lack to one of abundance.
One thing is certain: it’s time for me to embrace my power and stop being a victim of my circumstances. I’ll keep you updated on my progress.
