# America Is Fed Up With Bullies: The DNC's Strong Message

Written on

Chapter 1: A Shifting Landscape

The Democratic National Convention (DNC) was a remarkable spectacle filled with unexpected speeches and performances that captured attention across the nation.

Did anyone else catch the heartfelt moment when Tim Walz's son, Gus, was seen crying at the DNC? His emotional response to his father's achievements was a touching display of pride, exclaiming, "That’s my dad!" As someone who appreciates a great father figure, I found Gus's admiration genuinely moving. It’s heartening to witness such joyful familial connections, and it made me smile to see him so elated.

However, this moment did not sit well with certain voices within the Republican party, who hastily made inappropriate remarks about Gus, as seen in the now-deleted tweets below:

This backlash indicated a shift in societal norms. Many quickly pointed out that mocking a child, especially one with special needs for expressing love towards his parents, contradicts the notion of "family values." It’s simply bizarre.

Interestingly, the bullying tactics and derogatory name-calling that have become common since Donald Trump's rise are not resonating as they once did. In the past, particularly in 2016 and 2020, such tactics appeared effective. However, the negative impact on society was not fully anticipated by GOP leaders.

The political landscape has undeniably influenced everyday life: The overturning of Roe v. Wade has prompted women to reconsider their dating choices, fearing blame for unfortunate circumstances. The surge in maternal deaths has led many to rethink their relationships altogether. The pervasive influence of QAnon has dismantled friendships and families, leaving individuals isolated and regretting their affiliations. Moreover, BIPOC supporters of MAGA have begun to recognize the inherent dangers of aligning with a party that promotes white supremacy, realizing that being considered "one of the good ones" offers no real safety. The continuous threats to civil rights, such as gay marriage and anti-miscegenation laws, have illuminated the far-right's deep-seated animosity towards minorities.

Anti-woman rhetoric has prompted a rise in movements advocating for celibacy, while online platforms have highlighted the prevalence of rude "Karen customers," triggering a collective pushback. Many are now ready to defend those who stand against aggressive bullies. Additionally, the harsh realities of inflation have impacted birth rates, leading to concerns about the future workforce.

The reality is that society is growing weary of bullies. Witnessing cruelty, especially directed towards vulnerable groups like women and children, is distasteful. Studies indicate that rudeness is a significant turn-off; after all, a cruel person is likely to turn their malice on you as well.

The experience of living in America during Trump's presidency felt akin to watching a fictional villain prevail. This sense of frustration has ignited a fire within the moral majority, propelling them to challenge the status quo. The DNC served as a testament to the collective rejection of bullying as a means of political discourse.

The atmosphere of intimidation, shaming, and trolling has permeated our society, altering the collective mood for the worse. Personally, I am exhausted by the pervasive tension in the air, the struggles of ordinary Americans, and the unchecked power of corporations. I am tired of feeling oppressed by those who seek to impose their beliefs on others. America should be a land of freedom—freedom to live authentically.

At the DNC, it was clear that there was a strong desire for change. The attendance numbers were impressive, far surpassing those of the Republican National Convention (RNC), a point highlighted by Kamala Harris's campaign. However, it's not just the numbers that matter; it's the diverse array of attendees.

Chapter 2: A Star-Studded Affair

The DNC featured a lineup of notable celebrities and influential figures, far outshining the RNC's roster. The event was graced by the presence of the Obamas, prominent Democrats, and a host of celebrities like Pink, Spike Lee, TI, The Chicks, Oprah Winfrey, Mindy Kaling, Eva Longoria, and Lil' Jon. In stark contrast, the RNC's guest list included figures like Hulk Hogan and Kid Rock, highlighting the difference in appeal and star power.

The presence of former GOP figures like Adam Kinzinger, who spoke out against Trump after leaving politics, and Stephanie Grisham, a former White House staffer who revealed alarming truths about the Trump administration, underscored a significant shift within the party. Even those who once supported Trump are now voicing their discontent, acknowledging the bullying nature of his leadership.

Historically, the GOP's image was built on a platform that thrived on cruelty towards perceived enemies. However, as the party's ideology has increasingly alienated various groups, many are beginning to see through this facade.

The same bullying tactics that once seemed effective are now turning against the very individuals who employed them. As the saying goes, school bullies often find themselves friendless. While some manage to maintain a circle through intermittent cruelty, those who consistently exhibit aggression tend to repel others.

Today, we need authentic strength infused with compassion. The DNC showcased this ethos, contrasting sharply with the RNC’s lineup of outdated figures. There are few individuals as respected as those who stand up to bullies, akin to a hometown hero.

America is done appeasing bullies, and this sentiment was evident in the DNC’s attendance. If Kamala and Tim continue this fight, they may indeed become the champions of their communities.

The first video captures a powerful moment as Yusef Salaam and Korey Wise of the Central Park Five share their insights at the 2024 Democratic National Convention, illustrating the themes of resilience and advocacy in the face of adversity.

The second video offers a critical look at the DNC, highlighting the discontent surrounding Biden's leadership and the challenges faced by the Democratic Party, showcasing the complexities of modern political discourse.
